Side panel air intake difference between 997 and 996
#17
It's a structural stiffener. If someone or something bumps up against this open sheet steel, the 997 is less likely that the 996 to suffer a dent and / or have the plastic finishing piece break. It's very small in cross section and perturbs the air flow only minimally.

i see.
let me PRE-answer your NEXT question.
motons are very good on turbos.
and i can hook you up with some GT3 bucket that will make you look fast.
you also need better diverter valves from EVOMS and they do great flash of ECU....
hum..... any other questions?

C'mon Dell you don't really believe that you can keep yourself from modifying this car do you. Mooty's right you might as well admit it we KNOW that you have the list of mods prioritized already...resistance is futile

I'll have to sell the Spec Boxster (just spent over 50K to build that sucker) if I want to mod a single thing on the Turbo. If not, I better get used to sleeping on the couch.

From the 997TT Introduction Book
"The importance of air in the performance of the 997TT/GT2 is also apparent from the large intake openings in the rear side panels which supply the intercooler units."

So then is it structural to hold them together? Still not understanding the "why" of them.
