Five months to the day after starting my search for a 911 (originally I was looking at 964s), I bought my first Porsche. I don't have any pics yet, but its a 2002 Arctic Silver/Metropol Blue coupe.
Very few option car. One prior owner. 40K miles. Porsche certified.
Coming from a 2009 Shelby Gt500, the only similarity is the straight-line acceleration, everything else there is no comparison.
Pretty cold around here right now, so, I'll ease into figuring out how to drive with the engine in the back, and then I'll do a couple of DE's in the summer. My only other experience in a rear engine car was a drive from Ft Lauderdale to Daytona in a 2001 Carrera, but that was 5 years ago./
It was only the second 911 that I test drove, the other being a '97 C2S. It was nice, but the power wasn't there IMO, and it was a high miler.
So far, so good... well, more than that, it's FN awesome

For instance, while the brake system on the two cars are similar (brembo 4 piston), the 911 responds much better to braking inputs, which is likely a product of the weight discrepancy and aerodynamics. The Shelby is a really big and heavy car (4000).
I tracked the Shelby 3 times last year (Lime Rock, Monticello, NJMP) - but it was just too big to enjoy on track. That's when I started looking for 911s.
Can't wait for spring
