(At local Porsche dealer last summer and noticed nice looking 968 Cab. Service manager at this dealer asked me to buy this car cause the owner didn't drive the car very much and had to bring the car in every year for a new battery.)

I'm sticking with OEM batteries until I have bad experience with one.

Sincerely,

Macster.
No argument here...just that Porsche does not really make batteries and the Porsche tax for a less than average battery is ridiculous. Mine has a better warranty and more CCA for about $60 less...I'm glad someone is making Porsche so profitable...LOL

That is exactly the same battery that Walmart sells for less than $80. It is made by Johnston Controls.

Just to add, my experience with Moll OEM batteries is not too good. But the OEM batteries in Cayennes, I believe those are Varten sp? are great.

Well, I've bought one Porsche battery in just over 8 years of owning my Boxster and driving it 227K miles. I hardly think Porsche's so profitable from my business.

As I said I'm sticking with the OEM battery until I have bad luck then maybe I'll see about changing.

My experience has not been recent but early in my life and owning other cars I bought cheap/discount batteries but found I was replacing them more frequently. Sure, they come with a limited warranty, but the idea is the battery fails before the warranty runs out and the warranty brings you back to buy another replacement battery.

I was spending less per battery but replacing them more frequently.

Sincerely,

Macster.

I think not.

The OEM battery just isn't very good.

I bought the DuraLast 49-DL, 850CCA/1000CA vs 700/875 of the 48-DL. Oddly enough, they are both the same price, $94.99 (after $12.00 core exchange).

+1 about Porsche not making batteries, here's one fairly comprehensive list of battery manufacturers and what brands they are sold under: http://jgdarden.com/batteryfaq/batbrand.htm

(Interestingly enough, Johnson Controls makes batteries for Acura as well as AutoZone...)

what model # of interstate batt. did you buy? the H8 is too long for the battery tray and therefore can not secure with bottom bracket on the positive side. the H7 is the same size as oem battery. the interstate website depicts the H8 for 911 MY 03.

thanks..

I have been using the Interstate batteries on several high performance cars for number of years. They are good....

I'll check the model/part number of the Interstate in my car and get back to you...
