My Turbo's passenger side seat belt is getting finicky. I have to pull it all the way out when I belt my mother in the car. She's not big, just the opposite in fact (5', 100lbs), but likes the seat forward and high so she can see out of the car.

The belt is getting pulled out much more than it ever has before.

Sometimes the belt comes right out other times it gets hung up, locks.

I have to bring the car in for something else soon and I intend to ask if there's any cheap/easy fix for a reluctant to unroll seat belt.

Default Well, it is a Turbo so there's no cheap...

easy fix.

The techs said they are not permitted to repair the seat belts and retractors. There are no serviceable parts inside. Besides there is the issue of if the thing doesn't work right...

This is not to be taken lightly: Based on my experience after being in a car wreck in my 08 Cayman S the seat belt retractor held and the pre-tensioners worked just fine. My face just gently encountered the expanding steering wheel air bag during the collision so I was glad my seat belt worked as it was supposed to. And so was my passenger. Afterwards the seat belts were as limp as a freshly killed snake but we were both fine.

Anyhow, I ordered a new passenger side seat belt. Cost is a bit over $200. Labor to install I do not know but not too much and it might get done at the same time the tech replaces the engine compartment lid latch -- maybe today or Friday -- and save me a few dollars.

My driver's belt would retract extremely slowly. Silicone seems to have cleaned some dirt off the belt, and it now retracts back into the car at 3x the speed of any belt I've ever used.

Thanks for the post

$225 is a cheap investment for a critical piece of safety equipment.
