OK I am going on vacation since I was not taking TurboTrox I crack the bonnet so if the battery is dead on my return I can jump it. Lo and be hold the engine bay light is on when I return 10 days later... WTF. Why would the bonnet control the engine bay light? Are there any more nuances that I need to know about such as the key being left in the ignition... Thanks. BTW I still love the car.

Leaving the front lid partly open will not make your engine bay light stay on (I do this all the time and have a maintainer direct connected to the battery)...leaving a door open will. The engine bay light will stay on for about 2 hours after opened. I guess you figured out if you leave the key in the ignition...the car will be dead....In the manual...

"Bonnet" and engine light are on the same circuit - yours should have turned off after a couple of hours.
By the way, the key CAN be left in the ignition as long as it's removed first (hear the relays releasing) and then reinserted!

In this scenario, it is unlikely the battery will die/fail, but if it does, you can always connect a 12V source to the terminal in the fuse panel designed to allow you to open the bonnet in a dead battery scenario.
BTW, exactly what is TurboTrox?
