Default Tiptronic Rear Springs

My new (to me) 2003 Tiptronic Coupe came with H&R lowering springs and I am looking to switch back to stock suspension as its my daily driver and I have to deal with NJ roads. There are plenty of used springs out there but unfortunately the only ones I have found are off of 6 speeds.

As there are different part numbers for the Tiptronic vs. 6 speed rear springs I assume there is a difference in spring weights to deal with the weight of the Tiptronic. Does anyone know what the difference is? Would using 6 speed rear springs cause an issue?

Thanks

Wross,

You may be right but I've found two different part numbers depending on Tip or 6 speed:

Tiptronic Rear Springs: 996.333.531.45 02 on Coupe M 249 (M 249=Tiptronic?)
6 Speed Rear Springs: 996.333.531.44 02 on Coupe M 480 (M 480=6 speed?)

Of course, as you pointed out, there are other part numbers for the Cabrio's.

Does anyone know what the difference is (if any) between these two springs?

You are correct, M 249 is Tip and M 480 is 6 speed. I have attached the pages out of the "Katalog". The numbers are slightly different than yours. I think the difference between tip and 6 speed is minimal....again going to a cab, different ball game. Perhaps someone else will have a more definitive comparison.

Wross,

Thanks for the updated information! I thought the parts catalog I was working off of was the latest as it was as of 8/11/08. I guess there have been a few updates since then.

So the updated part numbers are:

Tiptronic Rear Springs: 996.333.531.47 (2002-2005 M 249 Coupe)
6 Speed Rear Springs: 996.333.531.46 (2002-2005 M 480 Coupe)

Does anyone know if there is any real difference between the two? It would really help me narrow down my search. Thanks!

I have just installed PSS10's on my 05 turbo S tip and have the springs/shocks. They have about 30k miles on them. PM me if you are interested. I am in Northern VA.
