A few pics from my visit to Porsche Zuffenhausen last week. Toured both the factory & Museum (2 hr tour of the assembly plant, interior shop & motor assembly plant). Amazing tour and highly recommended. No photo’s permitted in the factory…It is incredible that all 911’s & Boxster’s are built on the same one line, 160 cars per day. One minute you seen a Turbo , then a 997S, then a GT3, then a Boxster. In the assembly plant the only automated (robot) function was the mounting of the windscreens, all other functions are by hand. You see lots of unmanned (Automated) part deliver trolleys moving about the assembly floor for ‘just in time delivery’ to work stations.
Here you see the cars moving from the body shop to the assembly plant.

Yeah, I remember the tour....I happened to be there while they were first preparing to introduce the 996TT. They had large sections of the plant with curtains hiding things. When I was there the museum was a small building jammed with cars...the new one looks nice. Thanks for the pics.

nice pics, thanks. why is porsche so paranoid about not allowing pics to be taken of the plant? a couple of years ago a saw a program called "ultimate factory" where the producers vedio taped the inner workings of the ferrari plant during the assembly of the new then 599. it was incredible to see. subsequent shows have depicted the assembly of the corvette z06 and bmw z4.

Great pictures! I remember taking the tour back in 99 when I lived in Germany. My Dad was test driving a Boxster and he pulled over and let me drive for a bit. Very exciting for a 16 year old with a new license!

Yes reservations needed for the factory tour...can be made via your local dealer.
Factory tour takes 2 hours (you meet at the museum then walk across the road).
Musuem, allow say 1.5 hours.
Hope this helps

Porsche may have changed tour programs...I toured the factory on a Wednesday in English.

I was in Zuffenhausen this past Wednesday. I wasn't able to get a factory tour, but did go through the Porsche Museum. It was fantastic.
I did see several Panameras driving around the factory. I really like the car after having seen it in person...
