Default First Track Day

Had a chance to spend an hour on the Waterford Hills Road Course in SE Michigan yesterday as part of a SEMPCA DE. I have had a couple of driver's ed days on different tracks with different cars. But this was my first time with the 996TT on a track. What a rush, and the car performed like a champ.

After spending four sessions on the track, I climbed back in the cab to drive home. Even though I had driven the car enough to feel pretty comfortable with it, I really noticed as I settled into the seat that the car now felt so familiar, sort of like slipping into an old comfortable pair of jeans that hadn't been worn for awhile. A completely unexpected sensation.

Ken, glad to hear you had some fun in the car! IMHO, anyone that owns one of these has to track them, at least once. Otherwise you'd never get a true appreciation of what these cars can really be capable of.
I know I always fall in love all over again with mine after every track event! I do about 10-12 DE weekends a year, and would do more, if I had more time.
Irie, go have a blast with yours. You'll love it!

Our club in SE Michigan has 4 events a year. I hope to hit at least one or two more.

Irie1029, you'll have a great time. Just don't push the car too hard until you get familiar with it and the track. One guy got a little overconfident and put his 996TT into the tire wall. A fair amount of cosmetic damage, but the car was fine otherwise. That made me think twice about exploring the full limits of the car!

And the ride down the slippery slope begins.
