Default new tires

I need new tires for my 2003 996 TT and was wondering what people recommend for daily driving as well as occasional track use. Thanks.

Michelin PS2s. Great for both. Get a track friendly alignment so you don't eat up the tire edges. Ask me how I know.

I prefer the Yokos...What size are you looking at? 18"...Yoko Neovas, 19" Yoko Advan Sports. You can have the PS2s.

For street and track, see if the Pirelli Corsa System tire is available in your size. These in 19 inches are the OEM tires for the GT3 and RS as well as the Ferrari Stradale (F version of a GT3).Outstanding performance on the track for a street tire and superior grip to the PS2. Pricey though.

Alternative is the P0 Corsa - which is an R compound tire. I use them as my street/track tires. They wear faster than the PS2 (R compound) but unless they are worn down they are OK in wet conditions. Not as good as a PS2 in the wet but far far better in the dry. You can drive to the DE and enjoy the stick of an R compound tire.

Best,

How much do you care about:
1 - wet weather safety/performance
2 - tire life

If you don't care about either, there are some just-legal-for-street tires
that will gain you several seconds a lap in the dry, and last a year or so,
such as the Kumho 710.

If you care a bit about 1, then tires such as the Kumho Ecsta V700
or the Yokohama ADVAN A048.

If you care a bit about both, then you're into tires such as the Yokohama
Advan Neova AD07 and 08. Shave them for more stick, or run them as-is
for longer life and better wet performance.

If you care more than a bit about both, then you're welcome to the world
of sporty consumer tires... I don't know much about them except that the
tires I listed above will beat them in any conditions you'd race in.

I have been driving on and happy with my OEM Bridgestone Potenza S-02A for DD and DE. The rears are getting close to full wear and because the fronts are still very good, I'll replace with the same tire. But, after quite a bit of research (tirerack, friends at DE events) I am going to put the Sumi HTRZ IIIs on for the next 4 tire change.
