Tire question/problem for track guys
So last November I was down at VIR for a 2 day event.
I was running Yoko A048s and was checking tire preasure before and after each session.
Day 1 was on issues.
Day 2 I was on track I think twice with no issues. The 3rd time however after a few laps the car didnt feel right... The right rear seemed "off" for lack of a better word.
I pit in and asked them to check my right rear tire to see if it was low. They said it looked fine visually. I went back out and went about 3/4 speed and things still didnt feel right so I pit in and went to check it out myself.
I checked temps and the front tires and rear driver side were all at the same hot temps they had been the past 2 days...but the passenger rear was still at cold temp. I only had one session left that day and decided to skip it b/c I didnt know what the issue was.
I had the wheels/tires in storage since and just took them out to try and figure this out before my next event in 2 weeks. The passenger rear tire was holding pressure just fine over the winter in storage.
Does any one have any suggestions or ideas on what happened here?
Any suggestions for a solution?
I only bring 1 set of track tires and 1 set of street tires to the track and want to make sure I can run the track set with no issues.
Should I replace the tire? have it reseated?
Thanks for the help!

Not sure what to tell you.
you say they are at the correct pressures throughout the run sessions, what where they?
also how many heat cycles are on them.
also I would at the very least rebalance them.
also did they rotate on the wheel? what run group what brake pads what tire size all these would help.
what mods what camber? what suspension

Tom,
My tire pressures were consistent for the other run sessions...whether they were "correct" I'm not really sure. (I tried a few things on the first day w/ my instructors guidance and found it "comfortable" at those temps.) I believe I was running low 30's cold and high 30's warm in front and 40ish in the rears. Both fronts and rears warmed up to be within a 1-2 psi of one another. The last session the fronts and drivers rear were up to the same hot temps as previous sessions but the pass.rear was still at the cold temp.
The tires had 3 track days on the (2 of these days are the ones we're talking about here). It was an ACNA event and I was in yellow run group. Pagid RS29 Yellow front and RS-19 Yellow rears.
From what others have told me on TOF I'm going to check out the suspension (JIC).
Not sure if the tire rotated on the wheel, and yes I plan to get it rebalanced if I don't replace it.
Thanks!

Don't know what hot tire pressures are supposed to be for Yokos, but for my PS2's, in the 40s hot is not good. They become greasy at that temp. You might call Yokohama and ask about it. I called Micheline about my tires and the info they gave me worked well. Doesn't make sense that one tire should be cold after a track session.
