Help please...
So I was working on my 996tt.... I unhook the battery, work on the car, then decide to go inside and get something to drink, lowered my hood, but did not engage it, my kid comes around and decides to push the hood and locks it
... so my question, with the battery unhooked, how will I open this hood??
Already tried to jump it, but the juice wasn't enough to open the trunk.
Any suggestions guys?? Before I pry this thing open...arrggg!!
TIA

Don't pry it up there is a way but i don't know how at this time. The rear has a cable that runs in the left taillight that you can hook something on and pull it so i am sure the fron does also. I will try and find out how if someone else does not post.
I remember that one of the wheel liners has to be removed or taken loose at the front anyway. I am guessing the drivers side but not sure and you will find the cable to release the hood. Hope this helps.
, just would be able to bear it...thanks
Did you try to jump it from under the dash at fuse panel? If not try this first you just pull out a fuse i think top right and it does not pull all the way out and hook your jumper cable to it and ground them to door hinge or something. YOU MUST USE THE KEY BUTTON TO RELEASE IT NOT THE SWITCH INSIDE CAR.

The switch off alarm by locking and unlocking door at the door lock. Then unlock and open hood.

Does this procedure work if you don't have a completed cicrucit for your battery? Or does using the donor procedure re-create a completed circuit? I know the donor method works for a dead battery, but I'm not sure what happens if you have the battery out of the car or totally disconnected.
As a back-up procedure....you can take off your front tire and pull back the front part of the passenger's wheel well covering and find the silver braided wire cable there....pull on it and it's an emergency cable release for the hood. Sometimes you can see it by taking off the passenger's side-light....get a flashlight and look up behind the headlight bucket to see if you can spot the wire cable. Sometimes you can fish it out thru there if you're lucky. I had to take out the wheel lining because I couldn't see the cable thru the side light receptacle. I also re-routed the cable to the front of the car and hid it behind the grill so it's easier to get to if an emergency situation develops. Threre's also one behind the driver's rear tail light for the engine hood.

Got it to open, tried several ways, finally took a working battery off one of my cars and wired it on the panel, used the remote and it unlatched itself..Thanks again for all your help guys!!
You can either use the remote or the regular switch......the manula doest say this if I recall......but no switch or reomete switch and it won't unlock. And Yes Chuck.....it wirks with the battery connected, or not.

The fuse panel on the left of the driver's side footwell has instructions on how to get power to your car when the battery is disabled. It's easy as pie if you have another battery to jump from. I used my battery charger the other day for this very thing...needed to open the trunk to charge the dead battery.
The Battery Tender Plus has a short harness that allows you to hook up the pigtail to the battery terminals then run it to a point where you can hide it behind part of the front grill....it has a rubber coated plug that mates with the Tender's plug so you don't have to open your hood....just plug it in from the outside....very convenient and you can't see it stashed back there. The downside would be if you needed to start the car immediately....the Tender only charges at 1.5 Amps so it would take a while to bring it back up....but a Tender is supposed to be hooked up for ongoing battery maintenance...not used as a hot start device.
