Default Leak on Front Differential?

Guys,

Swapped out the front tranny fluid this weekend, no surprises there; oil definitely cleaner than the gearbox.

Looks like some kind of leak on the driver's side of the housing though, anyone seen this before, and do I have to worry?

I had a very small leak when my car was new...you could barely detect it, but my Indy felt some moisture when he installed my PSS9s. Took it to dealership and they replaced the entire front diff. They said the Porsche factory does not want dealers to open up the diff. to replace anything (even a seal).

I've not seen any drips in the garage or anything like that; I believe it's a really small leak. I drained appx. 1.5 litres fron the diff; 29k I don't believe it's been changed before (I've had it since 19k).

could that be from up higher like the clutch or brake fill containers? It just seems like a lot of fluid (from the pic) with no new signs of a leak?? does it feel like 70 wt oil?

Check the steering rack gearbox too.
They are know to occasionally fail.

It appeared to be from the differential, the oil does have the distinctive odor of tranny fluid. I was too focused on the diff though, there are other parts up there.

Thanks for the suggestions guys I'll take another look. Now if only I had some hydraulic lifts, the trolley jack is getting old :-)
