Default Question About WTB Thread

If I am searching for a specific model vehicle is it OK to post a WTB thread in the proper forum?

I understand that there maybe some rennlisters that are thinking about selling yet do not have anything posted in the classifieds.

I agree, after all we are paying to use this site. Our preferences should be considered.

I am 90% sure that I want a 996TT coupe. 2002 or 2003.

Silver/Gray with Black Leather
or
Black w/ Gray Leather

6 speed

Maybe X50 if I can get a good deal.

No mods, I want a bone stock vehicle.

Miles - 30k to 40k. Not looking for super low miles and not willing to pay a huge premium being that I intend on driving this vehicle. At the same time, I do not want a TON of miles.

The thing holding me back are the current rates on mortgages. Being that rates are low I have decided to dramatically reduce the term on all of mortgages (Primary Home & Vacation Home). Worst case I am looking at 10-15 year terms.

I will feel comfortable jumping into a 911 once I have a good handle on where my newly increased mortgage payments will fall.

My first choice is to buy from a very reputable dealer here in my area that I have been in contact with a few times. This way I can take advantage of the CPO coverage. At the same time, I am open to the option of buying from a private party on this board. Then purchasing an aftermarket warranty. I hear that fidelity is good, and I am aware of their parent company, no need to worry about them running out of funding and going out of business.

I understand that buying from the dealer near here would probably be my safest option in case of a major mechanical failure. Having a relationship with the dealer and CPO could come in handy. But that option needs to make financial sense as well.

I would prefer to purchase private party from a person in this community. Once in a while I check out 6speed. But, I just do not feel a comfortable with that community. Not sure if it is too flashy or what. Just not a comfortable as RL.

Thoughts? Advice? Ideas?

What price range are you looking for? I know you want a 02-03 but i do hav ea 01 that i am going to be selling soon. It has 12,000 stock miles on it. Never tracked or driven in rain. Always in heated building. It is silver w/black 6 speed. Mine also has a transferable warranty with 3.5 years left. It cost 50.00 to transfer. I just bought a x50 with 2,500 miles or i would not be selling.

Ryan: Of course it's ok to post a WTB for a car....you're a paying member and looking for a nice car. You're quite right that there may be folks who are toying with the idea of selling their car but haven't advertised yet.

I've PM'd a few folks myself, and have gotten a few PM's.....

Best of luck to you in your quest for just the right car for you....it's there.

There is a person that recently posted in this forum that he purchased a 2002 Guards/Black 6 Speed with 20K+ miles for $42,000 (From Benz Dealer). I assume that a private party sale would be less expensive. From what I can see, this seems to set a new benchmark.
