I have an 04 turbo cab. The drivers side window
no longer goes down about 1 inch when opening
the door therefore breaking the seal between the top
and window. The Porsche dealer stated that it wasn't
covered under Porsche extended warrenty and would
be about $700 to replace the window motor. Any one
experienced this problem and if so, what did you do?

First, the obvious...does the window move with the controls? (if so probably not the motor) Is there any power to the window? (check the fuse). It could be the window motor, but likely the microswitch in the door handle or the window regulator.

If you can hear the window trying to move but doesn't than it's the regulator. If it doesn't move at all, can be the motor but can be a switch. Does the window moves at least if you try to open the window.

 

The window doesn't move or make any sound when opening the drivers door and binds with the top. I can still open the door and roll down the window when in the drivers seat. I can't try the passenger door as am in Mexico on vacation. Thanks for the help.

 

So you can operate the window with the switch...then it is the microswitch in the handle...see above links!
