Default Pentosin substitute?

Is there a nonflammable substitute for Pentosin? Must be something safer we could use. Gurus, please chime in.

My understanding is you can use brake fluid like motul or srf in systems originally designed for pentosin. However, using pentosin in systems not designed for it is supposedly a no no.

Larry, I went thru an extensive search, and found that the only solution you have is the GT2 hydraulic clutch system, which replaced the master, the slave and some other hardware along with it... It's about $1000 from most of the vendors and removed the connection between the power steering reservoir and the clutch hydraulics...

Here's the problem with the current 996TT system:

The clutch master/slave/accumilator AND the powersteering system are all linked and use Pentosin. Run Hydraulic brake fluid and you'll not only ruin the slave and master cylinder seals, you'll ruin your power steering system along with the clutch hydraulics.

I am going the gt2 route asap.

Note, it has an "old" clutch feel/pressure to it. Harder to use in stop and go life....ok by me, but a thing to note. I had a 993 and preferred that clutch feeling. I was told the gt2 system is similar. No, I have not tried it. I am having early accumulator issues and am tired of the design's failures.

Well I ordered some pentosin as well. One respected tuner however reported they had no problems using dot 4 brake fluid in place of pentosin in actual practice.

Both Kevin from UMW and Steve Weiner of Rennsport told me Pentosin is the only fluid we should use.

VW/Audi G004000 hydraulic fluid is the same spec as Porsche Pentosin CHF11-S

If the VW/Audi fluid is the same spec, then it is flammable also. We are looking for a viable fluid that is non-flammable.

There is none, period...

You're stuck with Pentosin. As to the VW/AUDI use, I'd ask if the clutch and steering use the same fluid lines that are linked? If they are, then put brake fluid in and you're screwed. But hey, it'll look good from Fredericksburg, Va. so Top it off and have a fire extenguisher handy... Oh, and forget a warranty claim!
