Default Bar for my TT

Gents,

Still learning the ropes here and I am hoping someone can tell me what my turbo bar meter should read when I am gunning it. I currently can't get it past the .6 mark but I have read that 1.1 or higher is not difficult.

What should I expect and should I be concerned that I cannot get it this high? Also, and as an anecdote, this car felt a hell of a lot more powerful when I brought it home the first time but I thought it was just me getting used to it.

Any insight helpful.

Thanks in advance,

-Brandon

Brandon, if you're car is running the stock ECU .6 bar is normal. To see 1 bar and anything above you need a reflash.

As time progresses you will get more and more used to the power. Worse yet, as this happens you'll want more!

That's for sure....already scoping out an S or a X50.

That's good to know, I appreciate the info. One questions, will reflashing it void my Porsche Cert Warranty? If it won't, this will be one way to satisfy my noob power hunger.

For a stock non-X50/S you will get .6-.7. For stock X-50/S you will get .8-.9

Reflash is imperative.

My mistake. The car i just got has ecu flash so I never drove a stock one. My old stock 993TT would go up to .8bar, but if it was in limp mode, it would not go over .5bar.

Ok so what the heck is limp mode? Also, reflashing is imperative....I am all about it. However I don't want to kill my porsche cert warranty. Will this kill it?

Limp mode is when the ecu senses something wrong with the car, such as the CEL light is on. Then it will not let the car generate full boost. I'm sure there are a variety of conditions which could cause this to occur. The normal is .6-.7 bar, if you're only getting .4 bar, then it would be in limp mode.

So how do I know if it's in Limp mode? And how do I set it back to normal? Also, do you know if reflashing will void my Porsche Cert. Warranty?
You guys are awesome thanks in advance.

As I stated above, normal is .6-.7 bar. If you're only seeing .4 or .5 bar on full acceleration then you MAY be in limp mode. I don't think you can reset limp mode, you must bring it to mechanic or dealer and have them read the error codes from the computer and reset from there. You said you are seeing .6 bar, so it seems that your car is normal.

I'm not certain, but I would think that the warranty would be voided if you reflash the ecu. Porsche couldn't possibly warranty the engine if some crazy tuner screwed around with the programming. They just have no control over the situation.

For sure if you flash the ECU and something goes out in the engine, your CPO will not cover it.

Yeah, I dropped it at the dealership today and they confirmed that a reflash kills the warranty
