I would appreciate input from those of you who knowledge regarding speedometer calibration. I have a mobile navigation unit that digitally gives the current speed. It is very accurate as I have confirmed this in several cars with digital readouts. When I place the mobile unit in my 2003 Turbo, the car speedometer reads 2 mph higher below 30 mph and 3 mph faster at speeds above this. The Porsche service department assures that ALL Porsche's read faster than the actual speed (this is not the case with my Cayenne S). My next question to the service representative was, “if this is the case, is the odometer reading more miles than what is actually on the car?” The answer was “no, they work on two different mechanisms.” I may be wrong and please correct me if I am; I felt insulted by this answer and just bit my tongue deciding to wait until I was sure. Your verdict please.

Both statement they made are true. Ie all Porsche speedo's read fast, especially in turbo's. Yours sounds better than most, as mine (and many others) read 5mph fast at 60mph! The odometer however does not seem prone to as much error, so therefore the speedo read out must be independently "adjusted" in the computers somewhere is my guess.
