Default Best Shops in VA & MD

Hey guys,

Just had Intersport and Euro Pros team up to do some mods on my '03 996TT.
Mods included CF hood w/pins, GT2 decklid, and Cup wing, 235-35/315-25
PS2s on 19" BBS RS GT wheels, OMP Quick Release whl, Rennline floor mats, gutted interior incl. delete sunroof motor & seal up roof, front wiper mod, and rear wiper delete.

Many thanks to Art, Charlie, and Dogan at Intersport Performance in McLean, Va for their superior master craftsmenship and to Jack at Euro Pros in Gaithersburg, MD for taking body work to an artistic level.

Next project is a GT2 front bumper w/CF lip spoiler, Racer's Edge solid suspension kit, and Fabspeed cat bypass. Yeah, I know the CF spoiler has a short life span, esp. when it meets up with a speed bump. Oh well, it does look cool though.

Woohoo! Burn Rubber!!

'03 996TT (Previous surgeries incl. EVOMS ecu reflash, Fabspeed Maxflo exhaust, headers, 200 cell cats, CAI & BMC filter, muffler bypass, PSS9s,
H&R sways, DAS Sport Weekender roll bar, Simpson racing harnesses, & Recaro Pole Position seats.)

'03 C4 Cab (Gone to new home in '06)

P.S. Sorry the pic quality is not that good. I picked up my car and then it rained. Naturally.

+1 for the guys at Intersport. I bought the car from them, with an aftermarket warranty, and have had very good service. BTW is that Lapis blue? Nice ride.

I take it this is going to be primarily a track car? Cool setup.

Thanks, Sean. Lapis blue it is. Enjoy your car! Right you are, Maxwell.
It's gradually morphing from a daily driver into a track car. Nice GT2!

Linda,
Is the stock hood release still functional, or are the pins the only securing mechanism?

For southern VA (Va Beach/Norfolk) I recommend Eurosport and for Richmond it would be Luftechnik.

BTW - Linda - if that's your car I would love to see a pic of the car and driver! Nice car!!

Hi Andreas,
Yep, the stock hood release is still functional.

Hey Vyper,
Thanks. Hope to see you at a DE.

Linda, great looking car, I have one too. Will you by any chance be at the Schattenbaum DE this weekend or Friday at the Track at Summit Point on April 4th? If yes, I'll be looking for you.

ASG is a great shop in our area and really nice guys to work with.

Hi Larry,

The Minerva Blue is nice! No, I won't be at those events, but I will be at the Summit DE on 4/12 & 13. Hope to see you sometime this season. Also, thanks for the tip on ASG.

Default your 996tt tip

I was looking at your car (I know that it was posted some time ago) I have a 996tt tip and I have started autocrossing it. I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions for me:

1. would you run it in auto or manual for autocrosses?
(I realize that your car is set up for TTs, DEs, wheel to wheel)
2. wpold you leave the PSM on or off?
3. does your steering wheel have paddles on it or what?

thnx

Hi Twinsnail,

It’s good to hear from a fellow tip owner. I only did 4 AX events last year, so I’m a novice. But, I’ll be happy to share with you what I’ve learned. You’re right, the car is set up for TTs, DEs, and wheel to wheel. Unfortunately, the driver is not ... yet.

1 & 2. Here are the different combos I've tried.

First event: Auto w/PSM ON. (About as safe as it gets)
Second event: Auto in 1st gear to launch; PSM ON.
Third event: Auto in 1st gear to launch; PSM OFF.
Fourth event: Manual w/PSM OFF.

Based on my skill level at the time, I got the best run times with Auto in
1st gear to launch; PSM OFF. After the quick launch, auto mode kicked into
2nd gear and that’s where I stayed. The e-gas was very responsive to quick, steady throttle action. (Note: For DEs, I use manual mode; otherwise, it upshifts too soon. Also, PSM is off - a real blast ever since the RWD conversion.)

3. No paddles. They are the stock rocker switches which were installed on the OMP steering wheel in the same locations as on the stock steering wheel. (Many thanks to Charlie Murphy at Intersport Performance in McLean, VA!)

Also, will post some updated pics soon. Car is currently at Piper Motorsport in Sterling, VA getting a full cage and some other goodies installed.

Hope to see you at the track some day. In the meantime, enjoy your turbo and have fun in autocross!

Linda, You're in good hands with Mitch at Piper! He did the rather extensive cage in my Datsun V8Zcar!

Thanks, Mike! Glad to hear as this is the first time I'm using Mitch's shop.
He seems very thorough. Pics to follow soon.
