Sports Seat and stop mystery
Guys,
I have an '03 TT with sport seats.
I've noticed since buying the car the seats don't have as much travel back and forth as my '02 996 with the regular power seats. Cleaning the car today I spotted what appeared to be stops which I removed. The seats still hit some kind of firm stop with about 1 - 1.5" further travel.
Anyone know why they would be there (pics attached)?

Those stops don't keep the wheels from going back any further. I wen't through the same thing as you, but I put mine back in for safety reasons...I didn't want the seat to come off the slider if I am ever in an accident.
What made my seat go back further was the manual height adjustment. It is the lever right in front of the seatback adjuster. You pull up on this (while sitting in the seat and pushing back on it) and the seat will come up or go down. When you go down, you also go back a good amount.
Maybe you already tried this, but I thought I would throw it out there just in case.

Adam-
Thanks a ton - The number one reason I was rationalizing spending the bucks for a 997 TT was legroom. With your suggestion that may no longer be valid. The seats seem to be back as far as there is room for them to go now.

I want to stress the issue isn't with the regular seats, this from my perspective was related to the optional "sport seats" in my car. Not sure how common these are, great lateral location but limited power functions.
I have friends > 6' who praise the 911 TT for legroom with regular seats as compared to other sports cars. My '02 C4S with the regular 911 power seats had more longitudinal travel.

The seat item is a TSB not a recall........
Note that the item on Renntech indicates that there is a Technical Service Bulletin to address a possible problem with the lubrication of electrical fore / aft adjustment on electric seats. It is not a recall (mandatory). As sport seats do not have electric fore aft adjustment, it does not apply to those seats.
Cheers,
