Default Purchase of BuddyG's Turbo on 6spd

Hey Guys
I was thinking of a move over to a 996 turbo & this one seems very tempting - he has a lot of expensive & tempting mods & just reduced the price to $75k. The seller is a moderator on 6spd so I'm not sure I'd get any reliable info over there - we usually protect our own. Does anyone have any idea as to the reliability of the mods installed on the car? Any input is appreciated!

One way I work due diligence is by reading the member's other posts carefully. That will extrapolate the owner's driving style and modifications.

I saw that car but the stereo junk is that to me.

Hard to say. I follow 6speed and read most of Buddys post. the car (and he) are rock star status.
you couldnt build that car for less than 125k if you started with a stock TT.
Depends on what you are looking for. If you want a beautiful DD I would avoid this car. If you want the top of the food chain for these cars at an affordable price well then that is your car.
Just be prepared to deal with "things" as they come up. this car as any modded car has proven itself but since heavily modded will give you trouble from time to time no doubt.
I would call Buddy and pick his brain. He is fair and honest and that may be the best help to you.
good luck!!

Whoa - I've seen this car around my locale. It's visually menacing and quite stunning, even when moving close to warp speed.

I have followed his posts as well. Seems like a stand up guy. I would follow Tom's advice about calling him and get a PPI as insurance. Tom is right about the "issues" but this kind of performance has a cost associated with it

It does have a transmission that will need to be rebuilt. He blew out 3rd gear some time ago but has continued to drive it that way. All those pieces of that gear are now grinding thru that transmission lubricating the remaining gears I am sure he is will make it right ,but make sure that trans its fully rebuilt....

Thanks for the help guys. I would have searched 6spd but I have been unable to register. There is no way I would buy a turbo from someone who would abuse it that way. Thanks again for saving me the headache!

I would not dismiss it out of hand. The car does have a fully built engine and that is at a minimum a 15-18K option depending on rods and other items.
Just because the car is driven hard doesnt constitute abuse in my book as long as it is maintained properly. Just make sure the transmission is rebuilt and you may have the deal of the century

Thanks but someone who drives continues to drive after blowing out a transmission has no respect, IMO, for the car. Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds like he beat the hell out of it.

Doesn't seem buddyg wants to move from $75k.

So taking into account the additional cost of the tranny rebuild, how much would be the deal of the century be for this '02 TT?

Unbelievable. Someone was nice enough to send over a link. Looks like he beat the hell out of that car & I'm not even sure he even has a 3rd gear at this point.

I dont believe that car has had a third gear for a couple of months. BuddyG, while he may be a nice guy, seems to beat the hell out of the car--loves his horse power and straight line racing. I wouldnt pay anywhere near the value of a stock turbo for that car. I doubt he'll sell it to anyone with any knowledge of its history.
