OK. I understand you are describing an IS failure which is certainly documented but not common. There was a series of engines that did not get properly torques IS gear bolts at the factory and they failed as you describe (I do not believe Porsche has ever admitted to this). Nevertheless, it was a improper build and not an inherent problem with the setup. What manny_g needs to find out is the noise the normal typical low rpm gear chatter or is it abnormal and a sign of a problem.
