Default 997 GT3 brakes on a 996TT

I have a 997 GT3 brake kit (steel rotors/red calipers) with less than 900 street miles on them that I would like to put on my 2002 996TT (minus the front rotors of course). Does anyone know if they will be a direct fit. If not, what kid of modifications will I need to do? The rear rotors appear to be larger as well. The front calipers look just like the 996 GT2 front brake kit I currently have on my car, but its hard to tell if there are any minor changes... Thanks in advance!

996GT3 brakes are a straight bolt-on
[with the use of a 5mm shim to clear the wheel]

From memory, the 997GT3 brakes are slung lower.
....different mounting block ?
....different carrier ?
not that should make a difference to physically fitting...

Bringing this thread back...

Did you successfully do this yet?

I may have a line on a complete set myself and I'd like to see if it's viable!

Is there a difference between the 997 and 996 GT3 brake calipers?

I'm thinking of doing this. Will a set of 997 GT3 Red calipers bolt directly to a 996 TT?

thx

I don't know about the 997 gt3 rear but I have a set of rear only calipers, rotors and pads off of a 997tt 350mm rotors and more bracing in rear caliper than 996tt, that I am looking to sell. They are like new. PM me if interested.

The 997GT3 calipers work. You have to use 997TT rotors and Caliper bolts.

Here's a straight bolt on kit list for 6 pots on a 6t

996 GT3 MkII 2004> 6 Piston Caliper (left) 996 351 431 90
996 GT3 MkII 2004> 6 Piston Caliper (right) 996 351 432 90
997 tt Brake Disc (left) 997 351 405 00
997 tt Brake Disc (right) 997 351 406 00
4 X Caliper Bolts (8mm longer for 6 pots) 999 067 053 09
2 X Pad Wear Sensors 996 612 347 00
12 X Pad Damping Plates (6 per side) 996 352 086 02
Brake Pad Set (996 GT3) 996 351 948 00
Goodridge Stainless Steel Flexi Brake Lines SPR0801-4C
New Fixed Brake Lines - connecting flexi’s to caliper
Brake Fluid Motul RBF600

Optional ?? New Expanding Springs for securing pads It appears these are only available as part of a mounting kit which also includes new caliper pins which come already fitted to the new calipers

Also ditch your spare wheel (and get some tye weld ala GT2) as it will no longer be of any use when you upgrade..

What is "tye weld". Is this some form of canned tire repair kit for emergency use?

I put the yellow calipers on my 996 TT and didn't even think about the spare tire issue. Good news is now I'll have a more front trunk space!

John good spot...I meant tyre weld...the spelling police might be along soon to correct your "spare tire issue" ;-)

Will tyre weld work on tires or just tyres?
Is that a brand name or am I correct and we're talking the flat fix in a can type of product?

We're lucky even the top brands are far cheaper here.

Thanks for the help.
