Default lowering 996tts

just installed HRE model P43 wheels. 19 in, 235 cross section on the front and 315 on the rear. Wheels look great but the car looks like its on stilts with so much clearance over the tires now.
So- Im looking for advice on the best way to lower my car by approx 1 inch. Car is used mostly for street with 3-4 track DE days a year. thanks
Rick

Rick, there are lots of different suspension set ups that will lower your car. I use the factory set up called X73; it's not an available option but can be purchased aftermarket. This leaves you with a very low car and a stiff ride, but looks great and handles beautifully. Do some searches for x73 and you will see what people think. The only caveat is you need to make sure that yor new 19s won't rub if you lower the car. Call your wheel supplier, he should know. Good luck. GBG

a lot of 996tt X73 owners appear unhappy with the stiff suspension. Also how does the X73 suspension or PSS9 coil overs affect the cars PASM?
Would I be better off just using after market springs to lower my car without affecting other handling characteristics??

PSM on the 996TT is unaffected by suspension changes. PASM, which was not available on the 996TT, would be a different story.

Is that what your research showed? I'm surprised.

I recently fitted the X73 suspension package including motor mounts. Very happy with the set up. Excellent ride!! Only disappointment was it only lowered the car 5mm (front & rear) from the RoW spec.

No.
Throwing some springs on may or may not give you the height you desire and, you will not have the ability to adjust & correct that.....nor the ability to adjust & correct other things adding those springs have affected.

I used h&r lowering springs with 15 mm spacers front and rear.

Car looks awesome and handles better than stock but not as good as a good aftermarket suspension system.

I went with PSS9 despite reading many posts about how that kit cannot go as low as some of the more costly coilovers. I followed the installation instructions carefully, especially as regards setting ride height, and I think it came out perfect! Cars that are so low that the top of the tire is obscured look out of proportion to my eye. The curves of my fender arches and tires line up just right.

I appreciate all the input you guys have given me. Thanks to all . But- with so few track days to setup for Im leaning toward the HR spring package to just lower the car over the 19 in HRE wheels and Conti tires..
I have an 87' 911 (roll cage , sparco seats, belts etc) for track and Im tyring not to go overboard with my street turbo.

my 2 cents. you can do the ROW springs. it is a porsche part. i got mine from gert at carnewal (site sponser). it drops it enough, i scrape everything, which is a bummer. but the install is involved. i wish i just went with a full coilover set up then i would be done. you can get the pss9's for a little over 2k, which is not bad. some one has a set of the h&r coilovers at the other site, new for 1700ish.
this will really change the handling of the car.
good luck

FWIW-- The x73 is stiff and comes with stiffer motor mounts, so the car has little to no bounce. I never scrape anything except the occasional front plastic bumper (which is a $300 item, so can be replaced easily if it gets really shot). The handling is terrific and the car looks great. I've had it for 13,000 miles and am very happy.
