Bounce off rev limiter in 1st with Tip?

I've got an '02 996TT with the tipronic. I've auto-x the car before, but this weekend it did something different. I leave the tip in Drive, and manually shifted to first at one point. As I reached the rev limit, it didn't immediately shift to second but hit the rev limiter about three times before shifting up to second.
Anyone else ever have this happen? I'd really like to have it shift immediately, like it 'normally' does.

Once you manually shift with the rocker switches, the car stays in full manual mode for a period of time and will hold your selected gear. The only way to get an upshift during this period is with the switches OR go to full throttle and activate the kickdown switch which returns automatic shifting at redline!

My '02 Tip always upshifted at redline, regardless of manual or automatic mode. I've never heard of a tip bouncing off the rev limiter, in fact the opposite - I've heard people complaining about the upshift at rtedline even though they tried /wanted it to stay in the present gear.

It could be that the tranny is slipping more or not shifting fast enough allowing the RPM to climb more than usual. I had this happen to me a few times since I am almost knocking 100k miles.

In "M" position manual mode the car will only shift after hitting the limiter. In "D" with manual mode switch selected, the car will also only shift after hitting the limiter unless you're at full throttle which forces automatic mode, and then the shift will occur more smoothly at redline.
Boy these tippies are smart!

So for redline shifts...put transmission "D" mode...then maually select first gear...then full throtle to get 1 to 2 shift at redline (no bounce off rev limit). WCE is this what you said in your post? Thanks
