Default Extensive repair on sim card door??

I have just been quoted $1850.00 US for repairing the sim card door on the stereo panel, the problem is I can't keep the small door which you put your sim card in - I think the catch broken inside - does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this my self as it's definately not worth a whole new stereo/sat nav console.

9W1 Phone Module for PCM; Phone module for PCM allows users with a GSM phone to insert a SIM card and use the PCM as a hands-free telephone

Is this for all PCM versions? I have PCM I ('02 TT) - are these able to accept a card for GSM phones?
