Gobble,

I was not really speaking as to the wealth of the members, just buying habits.

I would second the notion of buying habits and focus of interest. There are members here who are only 930 owners which in theory should be at the lower end of the cost scale, and yet are comfortably in the six figures with the cost of their cars and modifications.

I am also a member of 6 Speed but have yet to post my first post there. As a 930 owner this is the place to be.

Yes, 6speed generates far more traffic each day, but it seems to this old man that the majority of it is incredibly immature. I don't see much in-depth tech either, although there is some Tech Light. I made a couple of tech question posts just to see what the views count would reach in a few days. My question about typical ignition advance values at WOT generated only 20-something views over 2 days, compared with many 100s of views for the trash talk du jour thread.

I miss chatting with car crafters.

Just curious of your test...how many views did you get here? BTW, have you seen the "disregard thread" yet

They both have their uses, 6 speed is very bling, but interesting. Rennlist is hard core. Renntech is, well tech. Rennteam is very international.
The FS section on 6speed is one of the best, can buy and sell anything in a flash.

6speed is quite good for modding and not much else. To their credit, the for sale sections are quite good, as is the sheer amount of activity, the diverse nature of said discussions is also quite entertaining sometimes. The immaturity that runs rampant there would simply not be tolerated here, and many of their members are incredibly abrasive personalities.

They copy and paste news from rennteam, and no real technical questions get answered there.

Boils down to what you're looking for in a website...

I help run a very technically oriented site for Zcars, and it's a tough challenge to keep the kiddies out, and the stupidity to a minimum... When I want serious Pcar reading, I come to Rennlist... ESPECIALLY in the Track/ Racing section...

If I want to be entertained, I go to 6speeds... I also try to crosspost useful info at both sites...

Having both isn't a bad thing.

I wonder some times how many people on either forum actually own the cars they say they have or are just on line to stir up crap. i enjoy both forums for what they are.

I concurr with what many others said:

When I started on Rennlist there was an unprecented knowledge specific to the car I was
"modding", the 993TT. I do miss Viken's AMAZING tire knowledge even though he had
reprimanded me at one time. 6bling is fun and in between the bravado and Chrome 22" wheels
their is enough technical to make it interesting (although it may not be enough if you are just starting), and plenty of hilarious characters and some very interesting cars. Funny thing is, many of
us come over to Rennlist as well, but maybe with a different tone. For ANY other Porsche model
other than the 996TT, Rennlist is more informative by far. 6Speed happens to have the most active
and most fun 996TT board with many of the posters not owning 996TT's. Oh well.
Cheers to both !

They're both great!
I think my sick humor is better tolerated on 6speed though.

Both are fun in their own right. I like the differences, if they were just alike there would be no point in checking them both out!

BTW- watch out for the new site on the rise....Gear Erotica...once again different but good.

something tells me the level of 996tt tech info here will exponentially increase over the next couple of years.

One factor not mentioned yet, is that this forum isn't as good anymore because of the myopic NA 993 zealots who bombard the water-cooled forums with their "greatness"

6-speed at this time is the prime 996TT forum, and I hang out there a great deal. Of course I can remember when fun-cars was a great Porsche site.....yikes
