Check the weight on the new CLK63AMG black (F1 safety car clone) That is 3940, with no back seat, and composite brakes AS

grip is completely irrelevant in that situation. Unless the car has 1000bhp.

Wow, did not expect that many responses!

I was utterly shocked and disappointed that the 996TT was trailing and gave up in the end...I was hoping the driver would have put the RS4 driver away just for credibility...always pains me to see any Porsche get wiped out.

Gone are the days when most cars & drivers won’t dare ‘race’ a Porsche TT…it truly was king of the roads…

Nowadays, it does not seem to command same respect as say, the 930TT, 964TT and 993TT did in years gone by.

996Cab,

Is it possible that you were looking at a 996 NA car that had the 996TT aero bits? I would suspect that you, a 996 owner, would certainly be able to tell, but maybe you didn't have an angle to see the side inlet ducts?

996Cab,
Why are you under the impression that was an acceleration contest? 2 high-powered cars on the street would reach speeds of 170mph if both were seriously racing. What you saw was 2 guys messing around, and one was a little more reckless than the other. It had nothing to do with ultimate maximum performance. AS

It was a 996TT alright!...

...unless some sad person has gone to the trouble of dresssing a 996 NA as a 996TT...i.e. side scoops, bodykit with rear spoiler, wheels etc...that would have been a waste of money!
