Default Interested in Running the Bonneville Salt Flats?

A group of us with AKA Rally are renting out the Bonneville Salt Flats on July 16th 2007. We're trying to get a feel to see how many people would be interested in joining, as we're considering opening this up to non rally participants for a nominal fee. This is one of those once in a lifetime experiences as you can come run your street car without all the usual club fees and long waits of a normal salt flats event. The salt will be graded and prepped, "track" insurance with on site medical, 2+ mile straight away with official speed traps so you know your "top" speed. All participants will be extensively filmed and a short documentary style film will be released shortly following the event. If you're interested or have any questions, please post or shoot me a PM.

For me it will come down to cost. I agree it's an awesome opportunity, but I've had to pass on others because the cost was out of reach (e.g. 2-day private track session with The Racer's Group).

I would be mildly interested, but as stated above...what would the cost be?

It's what has kept me from doing the Silver State Run. You have to spend 4 days there (no options) and figuring in all your costs for the actual run, travel, etc... would turn out being a $2500 trip. If I could just go up there and not have to jack around with all their events they require you to be at prior to fun day then it wouldn't be bad.

Initial estimates are ~$500, but of course, the more people we have attend, the lower the costs will be. The higher cost is due to track rental and insurance.

Im in if we can get some sort of caravan from the Southeast somehow... It be a LOONg drive without some company. 30hrs plus stops for fuel, rest and eating. So probably 3 days out and 3 days back, could take a whole week.

What sort of safety equipment will be required? I have a 200+ mph car, and only stock seat belts, no fire system, no roll cage, no fuel cell. Gulp.

Street cars are welcome, god forbid there was an accident, there are EMT's on site with an ambulance and access to a helicopter (to be called in, in case of emergency). In terms of 200+mph tech, I'm awaiting a response tonight or tomorrow. I sent Chris a list of questions a bunch of Rennlist'ers came up with and I should have that all for you shortly.

you could swap the seats and put in harnesses for this run, then swap it back afterwards.. wouldnt be that involved..A cage , however is another story.

That is *extremely* interesting! I'll have Kevin's stage 2 by then, so the car's top speed may exceed mine. As already posted, the next hurdle is safety equipment. I'll have an extinguisher, but not a cage. Not even a bolt in tequipment bar.

Can you post the names of those you've heard from? I PMed you but don't know if I'm on the list.
