New Thread...How are the plenums performing?
OK...by now you guys have gotten a lot of the plenums that have been sent out by the folks at RSS. I got mine yesterday but haven't had a chance to install it, plus...as I indicated earlier, I am going to be doing before and after dyno runs and posting them to the forum.
But in the mean time...let's hear it from the "butt dyno" crowd about how their initial reaction to the installation of these plenums. Do they meet your expectations? Can you articulate the pros and cons? It should be a week or two before I get the dyno runs done, so in the meantime, I'd like to hear from the folks who BTDT. Also indicate which engine you're doing the install on.

Hi Chuck,
I had the RSS Plenum installed on my '03 TT about two weeks ago. When they put it on they told me what to expect and they were right on. I haven't dyno'ed it but with all the mods I've done I've got to be close to 500hp. I think that what the plenum did was improve the airflow especially at lower rpm's, under 4000 rpm. What I have noticed when driving it now is that it isn't so noticeable when the turbo hits at about 4000 rpm. I think that the low end torque must have improved and "filled in" where I had lag before because you don't notice as much lag under 4000 and the power progression seems to be more linear and smoother. Don't get me wrong, the turbo still pulls just as hard or harder when fully spooled but there doesn't seem to be such a big hit when you finally get spooled up. It's kinda funny but it almost feels like the supercharged RUF Carrera I drove at the Dallas facility. I'm glad I had it installed. BTW, the guys that installed the plenum are also the guys that manufacture it for "Turbo Mike". They are installing those things at a rate of about five a week. I think it took about three hours to install.
At this point my motor has:
GIAC software
CarGraphic "loud" exhaust
Billet DV's
RSS Plenum
K&N sport filter

FlyingLow: Thanx for the update...BTW...your car is my idea of what mine should be. It seems that the mods like this RSS plenum are more amenable with the turbos and newer models. I spent this afternoon putting in the plenum and do notice a much smoother and quicker response between 5 and 7K...but I was stuck in rush hour traffic and didn't get much of a chance to open it up. I'm headed for SF tomorrow after morning rush hour and will have a chance to open it up and see how it performs.
I am going to do the dyno on it in a week or so and post to the forum. Too much "I think...I feel...it seems....I noticed" sorts of comments....and mine seem to fall right in with them. I did notice that it immediately smoothed out the idle that was previously a little rough....
Thanx for the update. There are a number of threads all dealing with the RSS plenum installations, and probably 90% of the feedback is favorable. I'm just not sure if the cost is truly worth what you might get out of it performance wise. What I REALLY NEED is a Twin Turbo.....I'm in lust....or is it musk?
