Default Header Wrap???

Anyone ever installed header wrap on headers on their 996TT? Was speaking with someone at CDOC about exhaust "notes" and they advised that a lot of people are swapping exhausts and missing the cheaper solution... Anyone ever try this?

I haven't seen anyone post on here (or the internet in general) with wrapped headers for a few years. The few that had tried it ended up with corrosion problems.

That was my experience from many years ago rusting a set of headers on a Datsun Zcar project... Wasn't sure if anyone had tried this with any success or not.

You're a lot better off getting your headers ceramic coated instead. Corrosion is one problem, as is erosion/cracking from keeping the heat trapped in the thin metal. The ceramic looks great, does a better job thermally and is much more durable than the old tape.

I guess this is about exhaust note.......but if I were taking them off, port & polish would be top of my list......and personally I wouldn't care what the outside looked like.

Get 'em coated after porting and polishing. Its really amazing what that stuff does for the thermal in the engine compartment. You can't even see 'em unless you're under the car, so asthetics is the last reason should do anything to them.
