Hello All, Comments / direction appreciated. Just purchased a 2001 Turbo, 6 speed manual, Silver, one owner, 17k miles. Will take delivery in a couple of weeks.....can not wait. After driving my 1999 996 tip, cab for 3 years the Turbo is a missile. First mod, would like to lower 1inch....any negative aspects to be aware of? Would H&R springs be the preferred option? Mod No 2 will be wheels, what wheels are fitted to OAK's turbo? Cheers from Down under

'Ello, 'ello bloke! Congrat's on the new purchase. I installed the H&R springs as a temporary fix. My impression is they are a bit too "springy". I'm definitely going to some coilovers soon. The springs are a good/inexpensive alternative for lowering your car. If you have the funds and are more interested in performance, my opinion is to go with some coilovers. Do you're homework... there's many to choose from. If it's an immediate and inexpensive "look" you're going for, try the H&R springs. As for the wheels on OAK's Turbo... I'm assuming you're talking about the ones on his avatar. Those are the 19" HRE 843's, which I actually purchased from him. OAK actually has a few sets of wheels for his car and I beleive he's running 18" BBS wheels now. Perhaps he can chime in and let you know more. Good luck with the purchases!!

Not sure it will work on an '01 car, but my choice would be the X73. An '01 car is probably gonna need new shocks before too long anyway and the HR's will just speed up their demise. Keep in mind it's just as much work($) to install springs as coilovers or the superior x73 factory setup.

Just had X73 installed on my '01. Its considerably stiffer than stock, not jarring, but definately firmer. And damn does it handle well! I firmly believe Porsche did their homework on this, it feels perfectly balanced and a good balance for track/street driving.
