What good does the EVO link do for me?? Looks stronger, but I doubt I'd break the stocker. Looks Stiffer, but with all the other cable/linkage compliance, I can't imagine it's significant? So what's the $119 deal?

That is where you are wrong. Many people including myself have broken the cheap plastic teeth that hold the shifter to the shift cable. The EVOMS unit is solid metal and will not break. When the stock unit does break your shifting will be very smooth because the shifter won't be connected to anything!
