- What's the weight difference of these wheels ?
- Did the '03 C4S came with exact same wheels as the Turbo ?
A friend of mine is selling a C4S so I ask whether it would be clever to change wheels from our '01 Turbo...That's why I need these answers
Our '01 Turbo's stock wheels are used only at the track with Michelin Pilot Sport Cups. They are heavy.

Thanks for the fast answer.
My goal was to change '01 TT's solid wheels to hollow ones from a '03 C4S. But yeah now it seems the C4S has solids too... (not talking about Sport Techno wheels)
I thought an easy way is to check does the wheels have rubber (solid spoke) or metal (hollow spoke) valve stems. I looked around some pics and noticed my friend has metal valve stems but guess he has changed them himself. The car's a German market C4S if that makes any difference...

A better way to tell if the wheels are solid or hollow: feel around on the back-side of the spoke. If the surface is smooth, it is a hollow spoke. If the surface has radial groves in it, it is a solid spoke wheel.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? If the surface is smooth I thought it was solid spoke.

If the spokes are hollow, they have a very thin wall, and they spokes can't be grooved. If the spokes are solid, then they are grooved in an attempt to lose some poundage.

It is interesting that I have an '01 and it came with the hollow wheels. It must be from a later build date......the technology to make them is advanced as I recall. You can't directly cast them, they are actually welded to the rim in a proprietary process.
I have a track set of solid spoke wheels, and the difference in weight is noticeable.
I too am under the impression that the ultimate strength of either wheel is so high as to be practically the same......I have NEVER seen a Porsche wheel broken by what would appear to be a manufacturing defect.....I've seen several that were broken by the driver ;>)
However I HAVE seen a couple of wheels by reputable manufacturers that failed apparently at a defect point.
