I am inclined to agree, I am on my 10th Porsche, and chipped 4 of them. The most I paid was with Autothority and that was $500.00 for a 928 GTS.
The whole Unichip thing proves a point, I talked to several of the dealers, one offered me 70 H.P. at $3500.00 120 H.P. for $4500, another here in Virginia, said max was 90 H.P. and around $900( see above post). I don't mind spending the money I just don't want to get taken advantaged of.

Regarding the Unichip warranty policy. Unichip is made by Dastek, a South African based company. Their web site www.dastek.co.za

There you can find "Code of the UNICHIP dealer" which among other things states that the dealer has to remove Unichip/refund the unsatisfied customer for 3 months, not just 30 days.

Dave,
If you know how to tune a turbo engine, you are way ahead of me and many others on this board. So if you are sure you can verify the Upsolute program, getting it for just $300 may be a great bargain. In this case, your automotive expertise is your asset well worth the difference in price

I agree that $3000 seems like a steep price for a software upgrade. For me, the only reason to pay that money would be the peace of mind of getting the right program from a reputable tuner. Just need to find one not too far from Long Island...

[quote]The results have been very good, but we never had the change to do any dyno tests. So, from my feeling, the powerincreas should be about 50-60 HP at least and up to 80-100 Nm torque"

No dyno testing?

That scares me.

Unfortunately, I hear horror stories about "reputable" tuners, including Rooks, Autothority and others from Porsche-owning friends of mine. At the same time, I hear praises of the same companies.

Unfortunately again, I can't tune my own car. However, I do have the equipment to monitor the engine and 02's, as well as monitor any power gains.

I don't mind being a guinnee pig, but I will tread slowly and lightly.

Let us know Dave, you have an accelerometer so that should give you some base numbers to go from. BTW what numbers are you getting from your accelerometer as a baseline?. I talked to the Virginia Rep for upsolute, he was getting details for the 996TT, and hopefully telling them that they need Dyno results to sell them here. He did say that if anything goes wrong or if the car doesn't run correctly money back and a fix plus lifetime free updates.
