BEWARE OF THE AUTO GALLERY!!
A friend of mine bought a brand new Ferrari 360 Modena and paid for it in full. Auto Gallery then proceeded to put a lean on the title so that my friend would be forced to trade in the car with them or resell it to them for a period of two years. He has informed Ferrari NA about this and is hiring an attorney to resolve the issue.I am not sure how dealers get awa with this crap.

I used to feel the same way about the dealers until I took my 996tt into Park Place in Dallas, TX and the service manager (name is Arun) kept telling me the downside to modifications I wanted them to do, to the point he was almost talking me out of spending the $$ there. Also, the fellow Ben in the parts department is extremely knowledgeable/races his Boxster every weekend and tests new prototype products from most manufacturers before they come out.

For those of you in Dallas who may have bought from this dealer in the past and received so-so service, as I did, this experience was really refreshing. they're learning.

Sidney is a great service manager at Park Place in Dallas. She has really taken care of my 993 and even though my car is out of warranty, she gives me a boxster for a loaner whenever I give it in.

Park Place service is great. Just don't ever try to trade a car there!

Funny to hear you guys complain about the little stuff in these expensive machines. Porsche has cut a lot of corners in the way they put the cars together and it shows, big-time.

I think the newest Porsche I would buy would be a 993. It still has the great quality and durability that attracted me to Porsche nearly 20 years ago.

Downtown LA Porsche returned my car to me yesterday. Only an additional six days in the shop. However they were able to fix almost everything excluding the rear passenger side intake (part is on back order nationally), the vibration issue is a lot better however they recommended a road force balance (a machine that they don't have) and the oil consumption is going to be monitored for the next 1,000 miles to see what happens.

I found them to be friendly, attentive and they actually did what they said they were going to do. It was interesting that they could hear things like the air leak and the rattles and acknowlegde that the gear shift was awful...not within factory tolerances as BH Porsche claimed. I would recommend them to other Los Angeles Porsche owners.

I'm at the corvetteforum, and the general opinion is that most GM dealer service departments treat Corvette buyers the same as Malibu buyers.

Don't get me started on warranty item repairs...

I sold at $12,000 loss, a Z06 that went through oil at a rate of 250 miles per quart. GM did nothing substantial about it. Who wants a $52,000 Chevrolet with an in house truck tech rebuild? Not me.

I learned the hard way that Porsche Service in Boston is on a par with GM.

exactly what I was gonna say. You would think you'd buy their best sportscar and they'd treat you better then a young kid in a 15K cavalier.

That and some of chevy's tactics they've used to avoid warranty repairs. Such as sending people to tracks and such to write down vin #'s of those who are racing.

The same could be said for Dodge dealers.I had problems with my 01 GTS steering rack and it took the dealer 2 prime summer driving weeks to order and replace. I found out ,luckily after car was traded , that the front clip had been repainted.
the best service I have experienced (suprisingly from same dealer group ) is Acura , although with the Porsches i have had over the years ...can't complain. Each time I took either of my NSX's in for service the mechanics would come out and personally go through the procedures with me ..no matter how mundane; further , the car was the star in the Acura line up and it and me were always treated that way.
I recently had a flat on the highway and had a great experience both with roadside assist and HJ PFAFF in Toronto ( see my roadside assist post for details). So hopefully this is a good sign.

Not to mention parts and labour being a tad easier on the wallet. For instance , rear tires on the NSX were half the cost $315 cdn per compared to $735 cdn per for the Pirelli's on the 996 tt . mind you that is emergency and from the dealer pricing and the Acura's had to be replaced more often.
The NSX would be even more thrilling with the tt's bhp.But , right now the tt is the most awesome all round "supercar" in the world

All this reminds me of the guy I met at Pacific a couple months ago with a 2002 TT. We were both waiting for them to open in the morning and he asked me if I wanted to trade cars. I have a '97 c4s, so I chuckled and said straight up hell yeah....he was extremely pissed about how many times he had it in for service. He proceeded to give me a run down of all the problems and was actually there to meet an engineer and top mechanic/service pro from PORSCHE NORTH AMERICA.

I swear this really happened....he had closed his door to talk to me and when he opened it, the inside light fell off right in front of us! Until reading this post, I didn't realize the build quality was soo poor on the TT's. Man, I hope they get it right for the Chili Pepper...the SUV is already been bashed enough as it is!

Hi - I live in the Uk and have a 1998 996 C4 Tip with 130k miles and during its life with me and the previous owner no real problems. As for service any dealer acting like that in the UK I would hope lose their franchise. I think any dealers acting like you described should be named and shamed. After all if the consumer wises up then they will lose trade and either fail or sharpen up their act.
