Tell me about the "Turbo power kit"
I could get a nice car for the price of the kit.
What is in the kit (as in, mods) and what does it do (if anything) besides the HP/torque boost?
Thanks!

On February 6, 2002, Porsche issued a Press Release regrading the power kits (X50 for the turbo and X51 for the NA). The Press Release describes the components of the power kits in detail:
"If you want a little extra: 'Exclusive' makes it possible Porsche 911 Carrera and 911 Turbo with even more power.
Stuttgart. The Porsche individual 'Exclusive' programme for the 911 Turbo and 911 Carrera models offers even more reserves of power than a sports car from Zuffenhausen normally provides.
On the 911 Turbo, the power kit increases the engine power from 420 BHP (309 kW) at 5000 RPM to 450 BHP (331 kW) at 5700 RPM. At the same time, a maximum torque that has risen to 620 Nm (standard: 560 Nm) is now available between 3,500 and 4,400 URPM. The figure of 560 Nm, which the standard engine provides between 2,700 and 4,600 RPM, is now available between 2,700 and 5,600 RPM on the higher-performance 911 Turbo. This means that its power can be called upon over an extremely wide range of engine speeds. With the acceleration remaining unchanged at 4.2 seconds for 0-100 km/h, the maximum speed has risen from 305 to 307 km/h.
The Porsche engineers have managed to achieve this improvement in power and performance by making modifications, which primarily affect the turbocharger, charge cooler, controllers and exhaust system. The basic designs of the manual and automatic gearboxes have both been reinforced, which means that the increased power can be ordered at a recommended price of 12,644 Euro (price in Germany, including VAT) even for the 911 Turbo Tiptronic. Its maximum speed increases from 298 to 300 km/h with a reduction of the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of almost half a second, to 4.5 seconds.
The engine kit for the 911 Carrera brings about an increase in power from 320 BHP (235 kW) to 345 BHP (254 kW) at an unchanged 6,800 RPM and a maximum torque of 370 Nm at 4,800 RPM. In this case, the additional power comes from a modified alloy intake system, modified cylinder heads and a new exhaust manifold, as well as adjustments to the control system, improving acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h by a tenth of a second from five to 4.9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h by a whole second to 16.5 seconds. The top speed has increased from 285 to 290 km/h.
Porsche is only offering the manual gearbox version of the power kit for the Carrera. The non-binding recommended price for Germany is 9,628 Euro (inclusive of 16 percent VAT)."

Thanks! So what does the kit really do on the Turbo, it looks like literally NOTHING (except the Tiptronic time slash.) Where would the power boost really show up, or would it?
Seriously, I feel unworthy talking to people with Turbo's I feel like you are all Gods

The X50 has better 90-150 acceleration , so around town, you don't feel it as much since you are in lower gears for such a short time in either car.

The X50 option is 450 hp DIN, or 444 Hp SAE.
SAE is the standard measurment in the United States.
If you're talking to your gearhead buddies and want to talk apples to apples, then you'd have to say the stock Turbo has 415 hp, and the X50 optioned Turbo has 444 hp.
If you tell your friend who has a Z06 that your Turbo produces 420 hp, then he can say his Vette produces 411 hp. Both would be DIN.
