Default Interior Carbon Fiber Pieces (- + or -)?

I am looking at an Blk / Blk 02 TT with the Small Carbon package, Shifter / Brake, and steering wheel. Is the Carbon Package considered a positive or a negative?

I personally a mixed on it and was wondering if these components would be easy to sell / swap if they didnt grow on me.

Thanks in advance!

Yes IMHO the more CF the more value!!! Do you know what those options cost!!!! I have the large CF package and it costs alot!!! You would de-value the car if you removed the CF package.

Seems to me (from reading posts on this board and others) that most people like CF and aluminum trim, but not so much wood trim. I think the CF pieces look good with black or grey interiors.

I personally believe the cost of the original CF option depreciates at a faster rate than the base car

Also, haven't there been cases where the OEM Porsche CF parts have faded?

From a personal opinion, after the car has been in the sun for a while, I found the CF steering wheel to get much hotter to the touch than the leather steering wheel. In terms of steering wheel grip, I believe leather is better. Also, I personally don't like the reflectiveness of CF parts in the car.

If you don't like the CF, I'd suggest you look for a different car.

If you get every CF option that porsche offers, its about $12,500 total. But just like the paint and the leather, and the wheels and brakes, you are responsable to take reasonable care of the CF. Its effected by sun damage. If you plan on leaving the car out in the sun all the time, it needs to be covered. Maybe with a dash pad, or steering wheel cover, or car cover.
If you like the look of it, or maybe the look of wood interior trim, get it. If its unimportant to you, dont pay for it. Take it out and sell it.

Porsche are considered 'sports car', hence CF and aluminum trim. Wood are best left for Bentleys and RRs. Would you buy a Turbo with wood trim? I wouldn't unless I get at least a 50% discount on the price of the car.

I think that the C/F steering wheels are easily damaged by the sun... the comment above to keep it out of the sun is very valuable. Almost every C/F wheel I've seen has some cracking at the top.

Personally, I didn't like the feel of the CF steering wheel, on the track I prefer to suffle steer and didn't like the the feel from the transistion from leather to CF as you are steering. Also the temp difference from the heat transition from the CF to leather was somewhat distracting.

CarreraMark:

For what it is worth, I bought factory CF for my C4S after I bought the car. All pieces on sale, for example, the carbon fiber center console from Brandywine Porsche for $950. When I sold the car two years later, I stripped the carbon fiber and put it on e-bay. I actually made a profit! I was shocked. My present 996 TT has the large carbon package and I love it. I personally have not had any problems with my carbon fiber including the steering wheel. It is a matter of personal taste of course, but I feel the carbon adds a nice accent to the interior without being too flashy.

When I ordered my 2002 car I selected the full CF package. The sales guy at the dealership told me that wasn't a good idea. I'm glad I did as I think it looks excellent. I feel it dramatically improves the look of a black car and is significantly more appealing that the stock black plastic interior.

That driver's seat is a good example of why I'm not a fan of supple leather.
