(40 years old) I may get criticized for this opinion, but I (and I am sure others) deliberately waited to buy a vehicle such as the 996 TT since in my twenties and thirties spending 100K on essentially a toy before you have a family, kids' college taken care of, a good real estate portfolio, etc. would have been an awful waste of resources at a time in most people's lives (20's-30's) when establishing a solid life foundation is more important than 12.3 second 1/4 @ 116 mph. A wise man once told me that a person's automobile's value should never exceed 10% of real estate/stock/bond assets.
Just one man's opinion - great forum guys!

36 AND newly single after 11yrs of hell!(don't marry an exotic dancer).'03 x-51 coupe, soon to own an '03TT 0R order an '04 TT(factory aerokit and add a stage I or II). I'm a flake and can't decide.I want a f***ing Ferrari 360 or a 550 (I've wanted a Ferrari ALL my life and now that I can afford one I find out that they're essentially junk.-My heart is broken). I've been researching Ferraris for years and have woefully and reluctantly concluded that I will probably never own one as I am known in my circle as Mr. Frugal. It seems as if Porsche is always a bettter choice.(can I use the term frugal when discussing a 130k car?)

I too thought that "every successful guy should own a Ferrari once in his life", and recently recovered from this kick to buy a beautiful polar Silver 2001 TT (4K miles). In the end, I knew that I tend to push my cars, and that I may just keep breaking the Ferrari over ($$$) and over ($$$). The other issue was that it seems no one wants a Ferrari with over 20K miles on it, whereas the TT resale market is a little more tolerant of miles than Ferrari market. In the end, German engineering prevailed.

wow, i never thought you younger ones would have a 996 TT. Guess there all kinds out there! I'm satisfied with the 951 for now. when its the RIGHT time in life for a car like the 996 TT, I'll get one. as a 19 (soon to be 20) year old, I dont see it fit as a car for my generation. I doubt I'm alone here. Flame on if you disagree...

Watt... I managed to find this video clip of you selling beers on a street corner to raise a little cash to buy gas for your GT2 while in business school.
