X50 1/4 mile times???
Let me start by saying that I have always loved Porsches. I am looking into purchasing a 996TT X50. I would like to know what 1/4 mile times & trap speed you guys, the owners, have gotten out of them. How much boost does a stock x50 have and how much can the motor safely handle? Thanks.

You might ask for 60-100 or 60-120 MPH times instead. These are easier to obtain and provide less stress on the car. I've found Viper guys love to start from 0 MPH. Porsche guys seem to prefer to start from a higher speed, especially with the grip that 4WD provides.

I think if you search the Turbo Forums you'll probably find most owners don't regularly go to the drag strip with their cars.
The best times I've seen for the non-X50 are in the very low 12s to very high 11s with trap speeds of 115-119. The X50 is probably a couple tenths faster and in the 118-122 mph range.
There's lots more data for the Turbo on road courses...more guys head that direction with their cars.

This was a copy of a post made on Funcarsonline.com. I read the complete article and I forget the speed but they quoted the X50 doing the 1/4 mile in high 11 second range.
I just thought I'd let everyone know that the X50 equipped TT just beat the Murcielago and SL 55 in their 0-100-0 shootout as well as the 0 to 1 mile. The times were 0-100-0 Porsche TT X50 13.02 seconds it did 0-60 in 3.79 sec., 0-100 in 8.43. The Lambo did 0-100-0 in 13.90, 0-60 in 4.0, and 0-100 in 9.00. The Porsche also won the 0 to 1 mile 30.01 seconds at 172.57, the lambo 0 to 1 Mile 30.50 at 171.40. Just for reference the SL55 took 15.15 seconds to do the 0-100-0. These times are very comparible to the $215,000 RUF turbo that claims to have 500 plus Horsepower and torque. Porsche seems to have been typically conservative with their X50 claims and my decision to spend the extra $18000 now seems perfectly justified. If anyone has the article and knows how to scan it in I'm sure everyone on this board would appreciate the read. Some guy on the Rennlist board just posted a little more about the test.

When I run the X50 stats through "Cartest" (a simulation program that has always been very accurate with my real-world findings on other cars I own) it comes up with 12.6 secs and 112mph for the 1/4 mile.
Here's two links to the two pages of the UK magazine (Autocar) article on 0-100-0 times.
I hope they work for you!
As you can see, the 996TT is not that far behind the Pagani Zonda and beats the Lambo in every discipline <img border="0" alt="[jumper]" title="" src="graemlins/jumper.gif" />
Sorry the text doesn't follow too well but I had to cut the pages from my copy of the magazine to scan them

The article is impressive! It most definitely validates the money spent on the x50 package!
I had the opportunity to run against a ZO6 this weekend. I thought he would at least give me a run for my money, but..nothing! We were already moving, so there was little skill involved. He just got toasted!
Porsche..there is no substitue!

I had the same experience 3 weeks ago, Rode 300 miles vs. a Z06 with a talented driver through mountain twisties and straights.
SMOKED him.
But will admit that the Z06 is the best "value" on the planet.
Cheers,
Greg
