Question How about LoJack?

Anyone have it? Is it worth the effort and cost to put one in?

Thanks.

Not sure what you have out there, but out here TELETRAC is the way to go. It will call YOU if you car is snatched. Lojack doesn't do that, or at least it didn't when I had it in my 993TT which was stolen. I was away for 12 hours, came home to find garage open, car gone. Called Lojack -- they said I had to go to the police first (policy) and then the police would call them. That burned another hour... All I recovered a few months later was a piece the size of a football. Thus, I told Lojack to go jump in a lake.

The dealer in Dallas tried to sell me a Lojack.
They are popular and effective in NY an NJ
In El Paso and all boarder towns except Tuscan they are WORTHLESS because they are not supported by the police. I was annoyed with the fact that they tried to sell me something that was not supported in my town.
El Paso police had never even heard of Lojack.

An insider tells me that they are only supported in towns were the recovery rate is good.
Ergo, when your car hops over to Mexico, it is gone goodbye, and the Lojack people look bad.

In summary, the efficacy of Lojack is LOCATION SPECIFIC.

LoJack now offers early warning recovery system that will call you when the car is moved without your authorization.

I've been shopping for insurance. Several carriers give discounts (10-15%) to cars with LoJack in the NY NJ areas. It seems the device will pay for itself in about 2 years.

Do people on the East coast take advanteage of the insurance discount?

Thanks.

Cool

The insurance discount is not worth the cost of the unit. The units are well supported on Long Island, but I question why you would want one. Porsches were the lowest marque on a recent list of likely to be stolen vehicles so odd are you kids Honda will be stolen twice before your TT and second, do you really want a beat up damaged car back. Recoveries are arguably the WORST thing to negotiate a claim on with you insurance company.

Deanger,

Who would you recommend in the L.A. area for a Tetetrac unit?

Thanks

In Belgium it is not possible to get theft insurance coverage without installing such a system.
