Cool Upsolute Chip installed on a TT X50!!!

Ok guys,
It is finally not raining here in BOston, MA as it was yesterday. THis means that it is off to wash the car, then drive it all day round!!
I started this post in order to put in a full write-up later this evening. As I mentioned in a reply to Trojan's post, the one thing I noticed is that the max boost now goes to 1.1 bar. Also, after s bit of street driving last night, boost builds up much faster than before the ECU remap!!
I am going to get it dynoed on Wednesday (assuming they receive their equipment and everything is set up correctly).
I also am going to get Brembo 8-pisotns installed Monday and will post pics of that and maybe a write-up. I think I need added braking ot match the added HP. I think Upsolute is oging to do a retune once I dyno the car. (I am also waiting on an exhaust so I will probably dyno twice - before and after).

You really should have Dynoed the car before doing any modifications for true indication of gains from future modifications.
Have you had problems with braking the car ?. Can't really figure out why you think you'll need bigger brake calipers based solely on your ECU modifications.

"Its more for looks - the Brembos are beautiful!"

At least he's honest about his reasons.

I guess if you happen to peer behind the wheel it may, appear that your calipers are somewhat larger.
Does this have any relation to "Big watch, little *****" saying?
Doing it purely for aesthetics is beyond me.

Ok - just got brembos installed
I have noticed one bad thing about the Upsolute though (this might be because I have an X50 and upsolute is not X50 specific): Way too much turbo lag!!
Looks like I am going to return it and get the GIAC!!

Pete,

I realize the larger brake discussion related to 996tt's has been debated to death. I found your arguments convincing ... that with stock tires there was little to be gained by going to better brakes. I believe your logic was ... if the stock brakes can lock up the 225's and 295's why do you need bigger brakes for? The question now arises, why did Porsche see fit to install better calipers and larger rotors (350 mm) on the GT3. I believe the GT3 has the same size tires and is a little lighter than the 996tt.

More fade resistance due to the assumption that more GT3s will be tracked would be my guess.

There's a difference between the discussion of "my new big rotors reduced my single stop distance" and brake fade issues.

I asked once how big brakes help any car that already has proper brake balance.

This was based on seeing test results that showed the car stopping in a shorter distance after bigger brakes were installed. Same tires and wheels.

The answer:
The bigger brake rotor allows the same stopping with less pedal effort. This means less overall flex in the system, in caliper flex, caliper mount flex, flexible brake line flex etc. And both ABS and humans can get closer to the limit of the tire adhesion when there is less flex in the system.

No I have not had big brake conversions in any car since my 1987 corvette, which had 1988 Z51 rotors and calipers on the front - primarily for heat reasons.
