Default Help: My car will not accept any fuel!!!!

I cannot figure it out
I am totally out of fuel (still drives) 0 miles to emtpy on the computer.

When I try to put fuel in, it just spits back at me????

Will not accept fuel

Is there any way to manually release vapors or vent the fuel filler neck?

please advise.

I have seen a faulty fuel gauge on a 996 C4S....Is it possible that you are actually full, and the guage is wrong?

I've heard about other Porsches doing this (Boxsters and 996's as I remember)...I think it is a problem with some internal flapper valve.

Dock,

it must be some internal flapper (in the neck) because I cant even put in more than
a half a cup before it spits up. Can I poke something down there or is it a shop
repair (when he puts in my new rear (H&R) sway bar?).
thanks guys if you have any home remedies that do not involve a roto rooter cable...

Might be something simple. I think you have to put the nozzle far enough into the filler neck to trip the switch that opens the rollover valve.

Try a rod or dipstick down the gas tank, if it's full you'll know it in a second.

From the RennTech thread:

Okay, picked up the car this evening.
They found a bad valve in the fuel tank and replaced the hoses too.
It took them 8 hrs. to perform.

Its the solenoid valve that operates the mandatory flap on filler neck (hydrocarbon release to atmosfere). I was told that in SOS you can fill VERY VERY VERY slowly (30minutes for a 1/2 tank) but I'd suggest to use a hose to push the flap open and then syphon the fuel in.

Default Electrical solenoid in gas tank opening.

Had this problem after some rats ate through some wiring (LONG story ...). There is a solenoid that controls the opening of the gas tank. The solenoid is either broken or you have some electrical issues. You'll need to get the thing to the repair shop, but this it is quick to fix.

So this is why you missed our Picnic on Labor Day? It was beautiful!

Good luck tracking this down!

Mine did this but was temporary (few min) and has never done again. You might try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and see if it changes.
