LOL. You just keep repeating that to yourself, Alex. Joining me up at Sacto on the 5th for a little 1/4 mile musclecar drubbing?

While I'm posting, can anyone decypher that horsepucky Bentley is posting? Looks to me like all that DYNAMIC engineering they put into the X50 couldn't help it brake as well as the Viper despite greater swept area/ton. And frankly I've never yet seen a 996 driver willing to do 5000RPM drop-clutch launches on his personal car, so I'll just keep picking on any TTs I see when I'm driving my wife's car... Err, as long as they're not Chad's car, that is

Pick on my TT then from a stop, you know what'll happen. Just make sure you drive around on DRs ALL the time

Not sure I can make it on the 5th. Having my tranny mounts put in, just not exactly sure when... As soon as that's done sure thing.
Now as soon as the drag racing is done with, are you going to take up my challenge of AutoX and then Thunderill vs the Merc?

PS I'll see how Chad does with those DRs and maybe I'll put a rear set on my spares.

I think Doug Levine (the tuner) did a 10.4 in it or something at 145-ish.

Alex - heh, even with DRs we know I'm not going to keep up with your TT. You've got trap speed and 4WD advantage. Now skip the rice gas, and we might have a race on our hands...

No deal on the autocross unless you don't mind me driving my wife's car?

CJ - Alex is right, off the juice it's run 10.4 @ 143, and that's on ET streets. I have yet to run it at a local track on drag radials... one of these Saturdays. I'd guess 10.6 @ 144, but we'll just have to see.

Actually the SRT10 vs the 996TT on Autocross would be a good match up. Although I don't have that much experience driving like you. I only got my license 3 years ago

PS I'll put 91 in if you put in a 5 point roll bar in the Merc. That sounds fair doesn't it?

According to Motortrend the 2002 GT2 ran a 3.77 0-60 mph. Road and track and Autocar Mags. have the 996 TT w/X50 power package doing 0-60mph in 3.79 seconds. So it looks like it would be a very close race between the two with the driver being the deciding factor.

Ben: That's quite the rock'n machine you've put together there! Congratulations! What's with the propane injection (?) I read an article a couple of years ago about a PowerStroke diesel truck with a couple of tweaks, including propane injection, that was into the 10's. What's the principle at play there?

Mike - Nitrous with propane injection is an interesting twist on the more standard wet Nitrous kits. Propane acts as a fuel in the combo (substituting for gasoline) and is sprayed into the intake in conjunction with the nitrous. Propane has some definite advantages over gasoline: it converts to gaseous form instantly and completely in the intake, has an effective octane of 102 to help prevent detonation, and cools the intake charge. Disadvantages include having to watch two bottle pressures, and having to carry a propane tank around in your trunk.

My car no longer uses propane (it now just sprays race gas from the additional injectors already used by the supercharger) but there are a number of other "BBQ Vipers" out there having good success with the system.
