Post What do people here think about Hamann doors??

Wanted some opinion on the Hamann doors for the 996 (ones that open upwards like a Lambo).

Great if you're auditioning your car for Fast and Furious part 3.

Just out of curiosity I spoke to wheelpower to see how much this kit is and this is what they told me...
They need to send the car to Germany as no techs can do it in the US yet! (they will be trained end of summer). THe cost for the conversion is $25K + $10K for shipping both ways - talk about pointless - who in their right mind would do such a thing at such a cost??

Nice, but a bit over the top in my opinion.

I think it is a bit 'pasta', as I can't think of a Jap car with gullwing doors...

alternatively, one could you use the word 'baloney' if food was the theme...

At the risk of being labeled a pasta eater or a rice muncher or the like, I kinda like it...if someone else were gonna pay.

It's a cool concept I think, but it's being way overdone in the import craze. But honestly, msindi, you dont' need to spend 30K for this conversion, just find a good shop that knows what they are doing and it'll be done very well for under 10K. I mean **** the ricers pay about 1300$ or so for the kit, but to make it come out real clean would take a little extra work.

I actually would not spend more than 5K on this and would have to test another car first for noises and stability. I just wanted opinions on whether it is nice or not. I just like it because as there are too many 996s out there, this would make a person's car unique!!

I would tend to think the wiring harness from the body to the door would be a real bear to deal with in terms of longevity.
