Post Raced a Crotch Rocket!

I was going from Grand Rapids south to Kalamazoo and cruising around 87. I came up on 2 crotch rockets a Suzuki and a Triumph Daytona 955. I passed them on the right and continued on my way. When I looked in my rear view mirror the Triumph was my butt looking for some action.

I usually don't mess with crotch rockets because they are generally going to beat a stock 996 turbo. But I said what the heck and dropped it into 4th, then 5th and then 6th. I couldn't believe that I was pulling away from this bike! At 140 mph I shut it down and went back to cruise speed.

Shortly thereafter the bike came up beside and gave me the thumps up and then he lowered his head and shook it as if to say "I can't believe I got beat by a car!"

The only performance modification I have is a Fabiani exhaust so I probably have about 435 hp at the flywheel. I was very pleasantly suprised!

sweet, i ran a cbr a few years ago in my buddies honda hatch. I took it to run to the store to pick up some brews for a late night project we were doing to another buddies grand national. I pull up to a light there is a bike sitting right next to me. It's like 1 a.m. and he looked at me kind of gave me a nod. Wam, dumped the clutch at 7500 and took off, held him for through 2nd and at 3rd pulled for a minute but then he reeled me in it was fun though

Didn't your mother ever tell you not to pass vehicles on the right? (And especially bikes which have poorer mirrors and can change lanes faster.)

My experience in Europe is that at very high speeds the Turbo can out run just about any bike. Aerodynamic drag makes a big difference at these speeds and the Porsche ismuch cleaner than the bike.

BTW, great choice in words....did your mom teach you that, or someone else from the trailer park community?

Hey I didn't say I won. I just said I held up w/ him through 2 gears. Old bikes aren't fast. It's not like i'm saying I took a busa from a freeway roll or anything. And thats always mature, picking on someones grammar . You would think you'd have more class then that.

A large bike ( couldn't determine the model) pulled out behind me a couple of weeks ago. I followed him into the on ramp to the interstate via a decreasing radius turn ( best turn in the city) at about 65mph...when the turned straightened out and he accelerated I felt like I was going backward. Only other time I felt that bad was when I had my 00 Carrera and I jumped on a Supra with a tailpipe the size of a football and he humiliated me...

Hey soontobe. Save that kind of language for when you're working on your '55 under your carport.
Not acceptable on this board.

Hey emorgan,

Maybe you should jump in on the 996TT VS SupraTT discussion on this board!

Take care,
