OK.....I'll fess up (and try to get some better pics soon).......First I'll preface this by saying, she looks significantly diferent at the track, w/R1 shoes on the light hollows (custom painted).

However her "for-show" and "every day" shoes are 19" 544Rs......30mm rear offset, custom painted centers, OE wheel caps, brushed & cleared coated reverse drop rims.
Paint and assembly done here. I'm going to admit the 'look' will not be everyone's piece-o-cake. This is however, exactly what I was after on this car. Wheels are a very personal thing, & a signif component to what you're trying to accomplish w/the car. I have 'spoked' wheels from HRE & Fikse on other cars (darker cars). But on the this silver body, I was trying for something very tight.....something that did not detract from the body....especially when she's rolling (a test of any great car-wheel combo IMHO).

I'm going to admit some influence from AMG (however these monos are chump-change compared to 3 piece 544s).

Lastly, I'll admit some influence (in flat-panal design) from classic OZ Italian Strosek alloys.

Sorry for the band-width......got a bit carried away w/the pics here.

Nice Gregg - few questions though
In the first pic: what is on your headlights??
Also, how did you get your OE caps to fit the HREs?? I would love to have my stock caps with "turbo" (not too fond of the crest) fit on my HREs...
Let me know ASAP
Nice car man!!

Hey Doug.....On the rolling pics...I am going to have a 'wheel section' on the sight I'm building DrivingFanatic.com and I'll have some some short AVIs (something wheel companys should do on their sites IMHO).

I've got this other set of HREs that look incredible when they are slow rolling.

On the hardware......HRE supplies all chrome plated.
AudiTT?....I think I kinda like Audi TTs

On the headlamp track pic question......racers tape.....I'd kill for name of someone that makes a hard lucite cover like 993s & 964s have.

OE metal Porsche center caps in an HRE wheel?.......gotta have the HRE's bored out to accomodate...HRE can do it (or have OE caps machined to fit)....or both, but that's another story.

Gregg, Why 544's?! They must be the heaviest wheel HRE makes! I must say they do look different. Have you weighed the 544's? I'm curious as to what they weigh in as.

Greg - what center caps do you have on your HREs then??
I have been trying to get a set on my HREs that has "turbo" script but no luck!! HRE only sells one with the crest for $100 a piece!! (after paying 5K for wheels you'd think they'd throw the caps in...).

Oak.....why 544s?....as I said in my post, first, I'm not nuts about bright spokes on a a silver car (IMHO, when they are rolling they are the center of attention....just not what I was after), and that's also why I painted my OE hollows.

On the weight....yes I know what they weigh....I'd like em to weigh less (but actually they are about the same as Rufs w/spacers) pretty popular right now.....also, driving to work, I'm happy w/the choice.........the track is totally a dif story, and the hollows are pretty tough to beat.....I'm keepin them for my light wheels right now (still trying explain to the wife why I need 3 sets of wheels/tires for this car ).

msindi....the center caps are Porsche metals....get em from Perf Prod or anywhere.......HRE will machine out their wheels to accomodate OE center caps (for a price).

Gregg,
From an outsider perspective the centers of the those wheels attract much more attention than silver or spoke wheels. This maybe just noticeable to other Porschephiles due to the uniqueness of the wheels in comparison to the turbo body style. To other non Porschephiles I can see where your logic makes sense. I respect your choice of wheels and trying to acheive a different "look".

Thanks all for the comments. You know I always say to others asking what people think they should do w/their cars...... 'it's your car, make your decisions and run w/em'.
Truth be told......lots that we do to are cars are calculated guesses.....wheels are right up there (ca-ching$).

The day they arrive/assembled/finished, and you 1st see them on the car, hey, you-yourself have to decide if the 18 decisions you made, added up to anything.

At the end of the day however...comments are appreciated (O.K. some I don't give a crock about ).
Anyway, for what it's worth the wheels look pretty neat in person (especially rolling .... I've had quite a few comments from people (who have seen the car the last 2 yrs) say they like the new look, want to know more on the wheels.....people who have never seen the car, strangely are more interested in the wheels.....kinda fun.

Like I first said......not everyone's piece-o cake......but that's what makes the world go round hey.
