![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I am attending my very first DE event ever - the HPDE from NASA this weekend.
I have been asked to put a 3 digit number on both sides of my car. I have never done this before, so I am looking for suggestions. Being that it is not an official race, I do not have to have professionally made numbers. The NASA email suggested shoe polish or racers tape, but that just seems so cheesy.
What has everyone else done? What are some good places to get the nice-looking vinyl numbers? My event is 36 hours away, so I don't think I can mail order anything. What about those stands in the malls that custom cut vinyl decals for rice rockets?
Assuming that I cannot get proper vinyl numbers, how does the shoe polish thing work?
Thanks in advance.

Shoe polish on the rear quarter should work just fine.
You could also do a Google search on "vinyl letters." There is a million places online that are cheap.
Hope this helps.

Try to look for any motorcycle shop with off road bikes they usually have numbers that you could use.

I'll be at the HPDE4 I'll look for you. I usually place my number on the back window and use racer's tape-it doesn't look that bad.
I have a black ZO6. You will be addicted to it in no time.

Shoe polish won't come flying off at 120 mph. It's real cheap, and it washes off easy if you do it within a day or 2. Get the white in a bottle with a built-in sponge applicator.

Thanks for all of the advice. I found a shop that will make me custom vinyls for not too much money. Next time however, I may try the shoe polish idea.
Orthopod - I'll be in a silver turbo with the 12" numbers that say "183" in red. I'm staying at the Park Place, what about you? BTW, my name is Ryan. See you there!
