Post Strait pipes

Has anybody tried straight pipes on the track on a 996tt? Is there any problem doing this?

I think it depends on how the ECU is tuned, so that the check engine light doesn't come on.

Ask Wilber, he is running straight pipes on his 996TT.

I had a set made. No cats, straight out from the turbos to a chamber and 3" pipe. Had to leave the 2nd 02 sensor out of the exhaust- stream checking air. Still got a CEL. It was loud but actually had less resonance then the Fabspeeds I had. Never really sure if it was running %100 because of the CEL. Too much of a PIA to swap, my exhaust for the straight pipes, and without the DME being reprogrammed, I'M not sure if its worth it. It did sound very NASCAR-ESK.
CJV mentioned something about minimum back-pressure needed, but I didn't run into that problem with my tubes.

Wilber,
Is that your car on Ebay? There is one on there that sounds like your setup and car.

wilber, if you getting married, gives you more of a reason to keep it! After all that work you haven't had much time to enjoy it. Any ways good luck!

CJV
No bend. I used the stock exhuast, cut the two ends off, leaving the gutted cats, a 5x5 chamber (the middle section was removed and a stainless plate covered the opening) then attached a 3" tail pipe to the chamber in-and-out. Alumninum bar between the sides to secure the end sections to the stock attachment point.

Im guessing the only restriction is the 3' tail pipe, as the cat chamber and housing are pretty wide. It runs fine, is loud, but with the cel light on, I'm thinking there is some rich/lean thing happen there. I guess I should hook it up and check but, the thought of switching pipes again, makes my nuckles hurt just think about it.
