I have the GT3 seats in my 996. They are a direct bolt-in (no adapters required) and you can get them in leather to match the rest of your interior. Everyone who sees these seats loves them.
For a racing seat, they are reasonably comfortable. I've taken trips of 5+ hours in them and I was fine. Because of the high side bolsters, they are a little difficult to get in and out of, especially for the ladies.
Of course, you lose things like power, memory, and heat options. Plus they only adjust backwards and forwards, no up/down or tilt. The seat backs do not recline, so it's hard for anyone to get into the rear seat area.
These seats are great on the track. Combine them with a roll bar or harness bar and 5 point belts and you won't move at all in the car under any corner forces the car is capable of.
