jro996turbo,
Your dyno figures are very close to mine, however, yours is to the rear wheels. That is extremely impressive for being in hot Arizona desert heat! And you have 16 ft./lbs more torque...very nice!

What is different b/w
Evo. Stage 4 and Evo. Stage 4 GT?? Is it just turbos? TIA

What would the EVO Stage IV-GT do in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 mph. If no one has tested this set-up yet, what would an educated (Chad) guess be?

I would put the 1/4 mile at about 11.1 at 136 and 0-60 at 3.1 seconds. Shank has a stage 4 and ran 11.3 at 129.

My best time was 11.36 @ 125 and it is inbetween stage 4 and 5. Imagine did the tuning. I don't think the 1/4 mile time would increase much more, as it took about 5 runs to get to that, and more HP means more traction problems. I think the midrange would increase dramatically however.

Question

Here's an idea Chad, I know that it will pale in reference to your car, but if you're open to it, what if we took my car and ran the 1/4 with your drag slicks? what could go wrong?... I would need your driver to run the car... granted it the stage 4, and not the stage 4 gt...Not to compare, but to get results for others. I'm open!

Nothing wrong with Ruf, they are a very professional company. Asgar is a wealth of imformation and very good product.

CJV:

You mention the numbers are very close to RUF numbers. However, I think the RUF 520 is fwhp whereas the 500 from EVO is awhp, no? Or, is the RUF figures awhp? EVO claims about 600 fwhp on the Stage 4, which is over 15% more than RUF.

I am struggling right now between going with EVO or with RUF. People with RUF rave about it, but the higher hp/tq numbers and lower cost of EVO appeals to me. Furthermore, I want to use a Europipe exhaust which EVO is willing to work with, but I would venture a guess the RUF package is required to use their exhaust.

If the RUF makes more sense and is a better package, I am willing to pay the premium. But, there is no real qualitative evidence of it being better or worse than the EVO. If I just go on the numbers the EVO looks better overall. Although, I feel pretty confident that more research goes into the RUF package, which is reassuring (is this a false sense of securiity?).

Check out some past posts about the Ruf cars. My Ruf 993 Turbo R with 490 FWHP (as rated by Ruf) was as fast or faster than a 996 EVO Stage 4 with over 600 RWHP. I can consistantly do 0-150 MPH in about 15 seconds with a very soft launch (i.e., 0-60 in 4.3 seconds).

I strongly recommend you do NOT make your decision on HP/TQ numbers, but rather on performance numbers. The Ruf 996 R Turbo 550 FWHP car does 0-100 in about 7.1 seconds. I'd find out what the EVO car can do.

I spoke to Todd regarding to the peformance issue...
He told me that they're still working on the specific data...
but roughly estimate...
1/4 in high 10's and low 11's...@ around 130-135MPH...

I have not raced my car at the 1/4 track yet, however on my way home from a car show this past weekend I ran into a Supra TT that was running consistent 11.7s all day at the track. The end result between both of us from rolling at 30mph & 50mph is I had him by about 6 car lengths and pulling even harder. I shut down at about 130mph and If I had kept going it would have been even more car lengths. I however never ever race on the highway and or the street, but this guy would not stop revving next to me and the highway was drop dead empty.

Shank,

What else have you done to your car besides the Stage 4. Did you change gears, flywheel, clutch, etc...?

Thanks!

I posted the results of my EVO Stage4, 7 months ago. My data is on their site. I used a AP-22 accelerometer from Race-Technologies to gather the data and videotaped the run. See http://www.986host.com/albums/rmrmd1956/996tt0_160.mpg I only did it once, and I am a crappy driver but I think we are all being a little optimistic about our performance(typical male). I got
0-60= 3.87sec
0-100= 7.76sec
0-124.3(200kph)= 11.43
0-150= 16.78
1/4 mile 11.89 at 126.1
This is on street tires(Pirelli's) with stock suspension. My shift times appeared to be .3sec.
Getting over 130 in the 1/4 is vvvvery impressive

Can the Stage 4GT mods be used with the Tiptronic trans? Is it strong enough? Anyone try it?
